Born on 6th October 1940.  First lady doctor to have double post graduate degrees  M.B.B.S., D.C.H., M.D.(Ped), D.P.H., M.D.(PSM).  Awarded Common Wealth Fellowship. Nominated by University Grant Commission to visit Russia.  Selected by British   Deputy High   Commission   to give lectures at Universities of U.K. Appointed on WHO Expert Advisory panel on Public Health Administration.  Working group member of Planning Commission of India. Working as Consultant with Operation Eyesight Universal, Canada.

Published 56 articles in National and International Journals. Written 4 books.

Received Sahyog Foundation award. Awarded Multiple Paul Harris fellow by Rotarian of Canada. Rotary International Centennial Award for Professional Excellence. Received Gullison Award by OEU of Canada, Received Lions International Award for Professional Excellence. Received  WORLD OF CHILDREN AWARD. This is equivalent to NOBEL PRIZE for Children advocacy.

Works for the weaker section of the society especially slum dwellers. Started 6 Balwadis,  Income Generating Schemes for women, Health Awareness Classes for women, Adult Literacy Classes for women, Training of Dais, Training of Community Health Workers,  Hospital Aids Programme to nursing staff, Training of Child Volunteers, Supplementary Feeding Programme, Programme for Prevention of Blinding Malnutrition in Children, Training Centre for Spastics Programme for Physically Handicapped, Literacy classes for school drop outs, vocational training courses, Established the Family Planning Centre and Toy Library at Dharavi slums,
